article imageSell it on eBay. Let Amazon Store and Ship It

By Chris V. Thangham     Apr 27, 2007 in Business
Sellers can use as their distribution center for storage and shipping products to their buyers.
Amazon is expanding its Web Services program to allow sellers outside of Amazon’s program to ship items through them.
Amazon is already selling many items of other major sellers like Target, Drugstore and also small sellers via its sites, so this news is not surprising. Any seller selling in EBay or Google Base can use Amazon Distribution center to ship their products. So once they sell the products, the Sellers notify Amazon with the buyer’s address and Amazon ships it for them for a fee. So, the Sellers can use Amazon distribution center for storage and shipping the products.
The Fulfillment by Amazon program was made available last fall, but was only accessible by users selling their products through Amazon’s online marketplace.
With this new feature, sellers can take advantage of Amazon’s twenty distribution centers located globally to store and ship products. This will be a great alternative for large sellers, to have their products at Amazon and not worry about their own storage or retail place to keep their products. They can instead concentrate on selling the products to their customers. It will also allow new Sellers with no major infrastructure to open a store quickly and meet head on with big Sellers.
It is a smart move by Amazon to increase their profitability. It is a big transformation from their original books only site, now they are expanding to other areas and also selling online storage space for websites.
