Japanese are sold sheep instead of poodle by the sellers, more than 2,000 people are conned by the scam.
Thousands of people have been 'fleeced' into buying neatly coiffured lambs they thought were poodles.

Thousands of Japanese buyers bought poodles over the internet from overseas from UK and Australian Sellers. Instead of poodles, the buyers received lambs.

One of those scammed was a leading Japanese actress, without her this scam wouldn’t have been news. These lambs were very young many were confused by its appearance including this actress who said on a television talk show that her poodle didn’t bark and refused to eat dog food. It is hard to believe that she didn’t spot it right away that the animal was not a poodle but a sheep. After this show, hundreds of women contacted the police with similar problems. Japanese police at least 2,000 people have been conned by the sellers.

The police launched an investigation after and found out that the companies were selling these sheep as poodles. They think more than one company is involved in this scam.

Poodles are famously used by the rich and glamorous on the continent but are extremely rare in Japan, with many people having little idea what they look like.

The company in UK and Australia sold these pets as Poodles for £630, about half the cost of a normal poodle sold in the market. The company is no longer operating; no further details are given whether authorities in UK and Australia are pursuing the investigation along with the Japanese Police.

Can’t believe they could be deceived easily like that, next time they should make their purchases from authorized sources. Wonder eBay is involved in this selling scam.

I'm sorry - but this story just has me laughing big time!

That is what you get for trying to buy the "status" symbol dog! I can just see all of these silly, naive Japanese women with their Louis Vuitton dog carriers containing little lambs instead of poodles! ROFL!!

How do you suppose the housebreaking worked out!? Did they take them to dog obedience classes or what? I can't believe people could seriously be this moronic!

I think they are trying to imitate Paris Hilton, who drags her Chihuahua with her wherever she goes. :)
