In a broadcast Wednesday, a Senior Commander of the Islamic group Taliban, it was announced that Osama Bin Laden is the man behind many of the attacks in both Afghanistan and Iraq.
"He is drawing plans in Iraq and Afghanistan ... Praise God he is alive," Mullah Dadullah told Al Jazeera television.
It had been previously reported by a French news paper that Saudi Intelligence officials believed that Bin Laden had died of typhoid somewhere in Pakistan. However, Dadullah claims that Osama has been the man behind a great deal of the attacks of late in both nations. He claims that Osama was behind the attacks on the US army's Bagram base in Afghanistan--the attack coincided with a visit by Dick Cheney.
"Do you remember the martyrdom operation inside the Bagram base which targeted a senior American official ... this operation was the result of blessed plans put by him."
That attack claimed 14 lives including 1 Korean soldier. But Dick Cheney was in no danger: he was over a 1/2 a mile away from the attack.
Dadullah provided other information besides that about Bagram and that Osama Bin Laden is still alive. If true, this points to a continued resurgence of the Taliban and a sign that Osama Bin Laden still holds great sway among extremist groups in the middle east.
