Tennessee preacher's wife claims a lifetime of abuse and adultery drove her to shoot her husband with a shotgun.
Mary Winkler, a 33 year old woman in Tennessee says her life was ruined by her husband, a preacher who mentally and physically abused her. She also claimed he made her wear slutty costumes during sex and forced her to watch pornographic movies.
She decided to take matter into her own hands and pointed a shotgun that was kept in the house, which went off and killed her husband who was a popular preacher at the Fourth Street Church of Christ in Selmer.
Prosecutors claim that these allegations were false and that her husband was a well like and moral man who never harmed his wife in anyway and did not deserve to die in any way, shape or form.
Ultimately the jury sided with prosecutors and Mrs. Winkler was convicted of voluntary manslaughter which could send her to prison for between 3 and 6 years. Sentencing has been scheduled for May 18.
With cases like this it's hard to know who is telling the truth. Unfortunately, we may never know if these charges of abuse and sexual misconduct were true or not. If they were true you can feel some remorse for the woman, who would have been taking the step she had left to protect herself, but if they're not true, she deserves every day of jail time that she gets.
