Teen Matador Who Fled Spain's Ban on Young Bullfighters Nearly Gored to Death in Mexico.
A 900 pound bull almost left a 14 year old matador dead and left the boy's lung punctured in a Mexican ring. The young bullfighter had been fighting for two years and on Sunday he met his match when the bull rushed at the boy and carried him for several yards with one horn lodged into his thorax.
The slightly built, baby-faced fighter was billed as the youngest matador in the world when he came to Mexico almost two years ago at age 12, apparently to escape Spain's ban on bullfighters younger than 16. He once told reporters he had cried prior to a fight. The boy won victories in the past that earned him the right to cut of the defeated bull's ears.
A doctor said that the boy is the youngest goring victim he has treated and another doctor said that the bull's horn came within an inch of his heart.
