One dead on the campus of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va. Suspect has been arrested.
Another victim was found wounded in a dorm. West Ambler Johnston Hall is the reported location of the violence. Police are on the scene. Students have been advised to stay at home.
The university said in a news release there were multiple victims. Government officials with knowledge of the case said there were seven to eight other "casualties."

Seven to eight victims in additional to the one known dead at Norris Hall. The co-ed residence houses 895.
Madison Van Duyne, a student who was interviewed by telephone on CNN, said, "We are all in lockdown. Most of the students are sitting on the floors away from the windows just trying to be as safe as possible."
The campus remains closed at the moment. This is the second time in less than a year that the school has been a victim of a shooting. In August escaped convict William Morva was apprehended on the campus.
