All the lady wanted was an apology from the store owner and felt she was getting the run around. Well she finally got one. Was it what she thought?
Update to this article
Doris Moore bought a brand new couch from Vanaik Furniture. When it was delivered her daughter found a label on the couch that said the color of the sofa was Nigger-brown.
She was very upset and disturbed about this and she called the store to complain and her phone calls were never returned.
She contacted CityNews and they did the story. CNN and ABC News picked up the story and it had drawn an outrage from others.
The store owner blamed the supplier. The supplier blamed the manufacturer in China. No one would take responsibility for it. Each blaming someone else.
Well CityNews kept prompting,a salesman at the store, Raj Vanaik to call and apologize to her. On Thursday he did just that.
Raj Vanaik said
"I just wanted to apologize for the inconvenience that's been caused by the store,"
Doris Moore after being asked about the apology said she did not feel the apology was genuine.
Why did a salesman called and not the owner? However if you notice, the last name of the salesman is the same last name as the store. I also do not feel it was genuine, it was done because CityNews kept at them.
However I do wonder how many business's check the color labels on every item they sell. I do not feel they are at fault here. Even she did not check the label before she bought it. I do think it was a misprint, however it should have been caught long before it made it to the furniture store.
There is a video of the story on the link.
