article imageNatallie Evans loses her appeal to save her embryos

By patxxoo     Apr 10, 2007 in Health
Natallie won the fight with cancer but lost an almost six year fight to save her embryos today.
Natallie Evans and her then partner Mr. Johnson took precautions over six years ago when they found out she had ovarian cancer, they went and had six embryos fertilized and frozen prior to her cancer treatments.
Then they separated ways.
She wants to go through with the IVF fertilization treatments. He at that time did not want to become a parent. He didn't want to be financially responsible for a child a that point. She agrees to sign documents to the fact that he in no way would be held responsible. He then further decides to have the embryos destroyed.
Well today he has won his case, according to the European courts
Current UK laws require both the man and woman to give consent and her ex-partner is now unwilling to grant his permission.
The European court system was her last chance.
I have very mixed emotions regarding this case. Were the courts within their rights to judge against her ? Yes. According to their laws that was the only way they could. Morally it's hard to find a middle ground in this case.
