article imageHalle Berry uses suicide as useful tool to promote her movies....again

By mobrown78     Apr 9, 2007 in Entertainment
We all know how hard it is to promote a movie nowadays, especially when you are not a globe trotting, children's book author or out saving the world. (Hint: Three different celebrities, name them)
Berry isn't getting married or divorced. She is a beautiful actress with the coveted Oscar in arm, with no known addictions.
"Berry is starring in the thriller "Perfect Stranger," which debuts across the United States on April 13. She plays a news reporter caught up in a murder investigation."
Her talent should speak for herself.
Obviously it isn't enough. Here's a trick: play the victim: I too overcame depression and suicidal thoughts. And although the subject matter of "Perfect Stranger" is totally unrelated, my personal drama might make the public more inclined to cough up 10 bucks for the survivor. Not!
In Parade Magazine's current issue, Halley Berry rehashes over how close "she came to killing herself after her bitter divorce from baseballer David Justice in 1996."
I was sitting in my car, and I knew the gas was coming when I had an image of my mother finding me," the Oscar winner, 40, tells the celebrity-friendly Sunday supplement. "She sacrificed so much for her children, and to end my life would be an incredibly selfish thing to do.
Once again my question is, what does one have to do with the other? Apples and oranges ladies and gentlemen!
What I was able to glean from this article is that being beautiful doesn't guarantee happiness nor the proverbial prince charming. Perhaps she should write a book about it or become a spokesperson for a battered woman's organization.
Tell me, is it morally wrong for her to mix the two to promote her films?
