This will mark the second time the long running family drama, 7th Heaven, will come to an end. The CW has made a press release that they will not be renewing the series for a 12th season.
7th Heaven will join Runaway and Reba as shows cancelled by the CW. The show has been on TV since the mid 90's and has in general been the only prime time show in recent years to show a 'non-dysfunctional' family. However the series will come to an end after an 11 year run.
Unlike Runaway, Reba and 7th Heaven both maintain excellent amounts of viewers compared to some other shows on the network. However, it is believed that the series was cancelled because the network needed spacing to show new shows.
The Sunday block of shows have all been cancelled and the CW's fans have considered that the shows put on Sunday nights are in line for the next round of cuts. One Tree Hill which is a popular show among teens will begin airing on Sundays which has some of it's fans worried.
The network last year made another choice that frustrated viewers by cancelling the critically acclaimed Everwood. The move was to make spacing for the show Runaway which got the least amount of viewers out of all prime time shows during its 3 week run. The failure of the show caused ridicule of The CW and if the shows replacing both Heaven and Reba flop, then The CW will be heading in a similar path to MyNetworkTV.
The final episodes will begin airing on April 8th at 8pm EST on The CW and will come to it's second series finale on May 13th.
