A family bought a new sofa only to find out when it was delivered the tag on it describing the color of the sofa said "N---er brown"
A Toronto family bought an expensive new sofa from a furniture store in Toronto and had it delivered to their home.
Upon arrival, their 7 year old daughter Olivia made a discovery about the sofa.
She found the tag on the sofa and asked her mother 'Mommy, what's n---er brown?'"
Her mother was shocked. Her daughter has never heard that word before and she thought maybe it was spelled wrong. But no, the tag describing the color of the sofa said "N---er brown"
Doris Moore called the furniture store where she bought the sofa and the store had never returned her calls. So she contacted City News.
City News finally was able to speak to one of the retailers and they blamed it on the supplier. The supplier, Paul Kumar, blamed it on someone else. He said "I'm just a trader, I bring from China and I sell to the stores,"
So now the supplier promised he would stop selling the sofa but the family are now going to lodge a formal complaint with the Ontario Human Rights Commission. The family feels their sofa is now a little tainted but that it did teach their daughter that the word is very bad.
