article imageA bill to make congress read the legislation before they pass it

By Thespian     Apr 6, 2007 in Politics
We hold this truth to be self-evident, that those in Congress who vote on legislation they have not read, have not represented their constituents. They have misrepresented them.
What a fantastic idea. Alas, I'm cynical enough to think something like this will never be passed, but wouldn't it be grand? Hold legislators individually responsible for reading legislation before voting on it. What a concept.
The folks at the linked site have submitted a copy of their idea to every member of Congress. If you think this sounds like a good idea, please let your US legislators know.
