Kevin Costner sues Music Promoter for not helping him arrange concerts and promoting his music.
Kevin Costner has sued a music promoter, claiming the company reneged on a contract to back the actor's fledgling music career.
Costner, 52, filed a lawsuit Tuesday against Mahee Worldwide Ventures, Inc., in Superior Court. The suit accuses them of breach of contract and fraud. Costner is seeking damages in excess of $8.5 million.
Costner with his acting career in a slump is busy with his singing career, is the lead singer in the Kevin Costner Band, for which he writes the song also. He also has a company, Kevin's Music LLC, that manages his musical activities.
Costner claims in his lawsuit that his company and the promoter, Mahee entered into a two year agreement in January, that will allow the actor's band to perform up to five concerts each year. Mahee also had to create a web site promoting Costner's band, but Mahee didn't perform as agreed on the contract.
The lawsuit says, "Defendants made numerous promises regarding their capabilities to promote Mr. Costner's music and (their) willingness to pay for the right to do so," the lawsuit stated. "Instead of following through on their promises, defendants continued to make false promises and ultimately disappeared ..."
The newspaper tried to contact Mahee, but he has not responded to Costner's accusations.
I added a video of his called Porch Song. He sounds fine.
