By Tar De Moutonnoir     Apr 5, 2007 in Crime
Law enforcement officials say the man died after suffering serious injuries in a shootout with three suspected bank robbers.
The shooting took place in Readington Township, N.J after the agent came upon the suspects as they were leaving a bank which lead to the shootout. The men are suspected in a series of bank robberies in the area around Piscataway, East Brunswick, South Brunswick, and Ocean Township.
"It's just total chaos here," a worker from the nearby Red Oak Nursery and Hardware store told CBS 2 by phone. "I didn't hear any shots, but I see a lot of helicopters and a lot of police officers in the parking lot."
The latest information has two of the men in custody and a third still on the run. Two of the men had fled into a nearby forest immediately after the altercation with one being apprehended at the scene. Police and FBI agents have converged on the scene in large numbers, cordoning off a good part of the area and hunting down the remaining suspects with the help of dogs and helicopters.
