Whitney Houston Wins Custody of Her Child

By Tar De Moutonnoir     Apr 5, 2007 in Entertainment
The judge ruled in favor of the fallen pop diva, granting her custody of her teenage daughter as soon as her divorce to Bobby Brown is finalized later in the month.
Houston filed for divorce after 14 years of marriage in October of last year citing irreconcilable differences. This ended a tumultuous marriage that saw the couple facing multiple arrests, stints in rehab and spousal violence. The singer was ravaged by drug abuse and became the butt of jokes after rumors of crack use and erratic public behavior.
In court, Houston testified that she did not need spousal or child support and that the couple's 14-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina, could not depend on Brown.
"He's unreliable," Houston told the judge. "If he says he's going to come, sometimes he does. Usually he doesn't."
Brown who rose to fame in the early 80s as part of the boy group 'New Edition' has had a long and troubled life with multiple arrests on a variety of charges including drunk driving, physical assaults, and delinquent child-support payments. Ram Cogan, the attorney representing brown says he will seek for the verdict to be overturned.
