article imageRescuers Remove 700-Pound Woman From New Jersey Home

By malan     Apr 4, 2007 in Health
Rescuers have finally freed a 700-pound woman from her house where she has been stuck after becoming injured since Monday.
The rescue took seven hours and the crew had to demolish the woman's bathroom to get the large woman out from her home. She had fallen and injured herself in her bathroom that was up on the second floor of her house.
Seven hours later they were able to navigate her down a very sturdy extension ladder and took her to the hospital.
Firefighters had to dismantle the toilet and radiator then hacked down part of the bathroom wall with a saw to create a large enough space to get her out.
They said the woman was in good spirits as all of this was happening, stating that "She actually had a pleasant personality. She was laughing and cracking jokes about the situation," Bashir said.
Now this story is another example of why firefighters and rescue workers are considered heroes. They stayed with this woman who was in trouble for seven straight hours and never gave up, most likely saving this woman's life. Hopefully this incident will give her some incentive to change her lifestyle and lose enough weight so that she is able to live a better life.
