article imageWho is Sick? A Social Network for Sickness Information

By Chris V. Thangham     Apr 4, 2007 in Health a social network site for information on sickness and illness affected areas
Who Is Sick was started in 2006 with a mission to provide current and local sickness information to the public - without the hassle of dealing with hospitals or doctors. With a strong belief in the power of people and a faith that user generated content can be extremely valuable, our team set out to create an entirely new system for tracking and monitoring sickness information. is a social network to find sickness information in the local area. So if there is an outbreak, with a simple search byzip code will give the affected areas in the map. If one wants to find more information or seek help and discuss about it, there is blog like place where users can discuss with each other.
Since the hospitals and doctors are not providing this information mainly because of lack of web proficiency or integrating all this data, has a team of health care professionals, technology entrepreneurs, mothers, fathers, and caregivers work behind the scenes to create a simple, user friendly website for the customer.
Here is a photo illustrating how this site works:
If an user has a sickness they can provide data, not personal but general information, and more detail about their sickness, it will show on the map for others to find. Parents can do a search also to see what are the illnesses affect a particular area, so they can take preventive measure for their children. Some of the illness information one can post or search are Runny nose (Stuffy nose/Sneeze/Allergies), Cough (Sore throat), Fever (Chills), Head ache (Dizzy), Muscle ache (Body ache/Tired), Stomach ache (Diarrhea/Nausea/Vomit) and there are other symptoms one can find there also.
It is a beta site, not much information is available, more will be added soon. It is a free site for anyone to use.
