Three days before Bob Edmonds died, he received an apology and fees, bringing his total settlement to $250 thousand.
In 2002 Bob Edmunds claimed that the retailer who checked his winning ticket cheated him out of a $250 thousand jackpot.
Edmunds took on the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation in 2002, and through that action he brought about an investigation. The Ontario Gaming and Lottery spent $600 thousand fighting the lawsuit.
On Friday, Edmonds was awarded his legal fees, bringing his total to $250,000.
A local radio station reported: "Ontario's ombudsman describes Ontario Lottery fighter Bob Edmonds as a folk hero, who will probably be remembered as the guy who just wouldn't go away."
Currently the players in Ontario have launched a $1.1 billion lawsuit against the Crown corporation.
Our condolences to the Edmonds family, and hat's off to Bob for taking on the big guy.
