By Lisa Angotti     Mar 30, 2007 in Entertainment
It's been a bad week for the Osmonds. First, Donnie's show is cancelled, now Marie's heart is breaking.
The 47-year-old singer who became famous during her years on the Donny and Marie show is getting divorced from her husband of more than 20 years.
"Though our marriage is ending, we continue to have a very amicable relationship," Osmond and her husband said in a joint statement. "Our marriage has always been a faithful one, and neither of us is assigning fault for the divorce."
The Salt Lake City couple was married in 1986 and have raised eight children together. The oldest child was from Osmond's first marriage, two are biological children and five are adopted.
"Our children, as always, are our top priority, and in our deep love for them we will continue to jointly fulfill our roles as active parents in their daily lives,
" the couple said.
Osmond had her first country music hit at the young age of 13 and began performing with the Osmond Brothers in the 1970s. She was the only daughter of the famous Mormon family.
The Donny and Marie show on ABC in the 70s made television history, and in the 90s she reappeared with her brother on a syndicated talk show.
Today, Osmond's doll business is booming with the very collectible Marie Osmond Dolls sold on QVC cable. Donnie, Osmond's brother, was promoting his new TV show "The American Dream Vote" this week until ABC recently canceled it. There have been talks of the brother/sister duo reuniting again, but nothing lately has come to fruition. Maybe now that they're both free, they'll rethink the reunion.
