The Supreme Court in India has put brakes on Government's plan to introduce quotas in educational system.
Indian Government's plan to introduce quotas in college and universities have been put on hold by Supreme Court. Government wanted to double the share of economically backward class to 50% in college and universities the move which has sparked debate.
Many believe that introduction of such quotas in education could hamper the quality of the education and has the potential to harm the economic development of the country.
A recent study suggested that India's Muslims were economically and socially worse off than Dalits.
