The country singer star Wynonna Judd has filed for divorce from her estranged husband after he was arrested last week on charges of sexual battery against a minor. Ms. Judd, who is 42, has cited irreconcilable differences in her divorce petition.
Her husband, Dan R. Roach, aged 49, was arrested last Thursday in Abilene, Texas and charged with three counts of aggravated sexual battery against a child younger than 13. The alleged incident took place in Nashville, Tennessee.
Ms. Judd's statement read: "I am obviously devastated. Our family will pull together, begin the healing process and hopefully -- by the Grace of God -- become stronger. We will move forward with our faith, family and our friends to find resolution to this difficult situation.
Judd and Roach have been separated since February. It is expected that he will be extradited to Nashville from Abilene shortly. Roach has been watched by the sex crimes unit of the Nashville police since they opened an investigation on him in February.
According to Judd's website, Roach had been seeking treatment for drug and alcohol addiction at the Shades of Hope Treatment Center in Buffalo Gap, TX since February 21, 2007. The couple was married in November of 2003 and has no children. Judd has children from a previous marriage.
Ms. Judd is well known for her singing career that started in the 1980s when she performed with her mother Naomi as a country duo, The Judds.
