Intrinsa, the first treatment of this kind for women, will be available in the UK on the Natioinal Health Service. It will only be prescribed for women who have experienced early menopause because of surgery.
Approximately one million women in the UK have had early menopause because of surgery, and a third of them will have a low sex drive. Intrinsa is a patch worn on the stomach and gives a low dose of testosterone.
It will be available on the NHS starting in April.
