Taiwan offers 'freeway' for butterflies

By RobotGod     Mar 24, 2007 in World
Taiwan will cordon off part of a highway to create a safe passage for a massive seasonal butterfly migration in the coming days, an official said Saturday.
They have distinct white spots and are indigenious to the Island. They migrate at the end of March and head north...all to lay their eggs and die. Then the young one's fly south in November to a warm mountain valley to escape the cold. They number about 2 million strong. To protect them, officials are sealing off a 600 yard stretch of highway. They are setting up nets so that the butterflies fly higher then the cars. Nice to see a goevernment that cares for beautiful little creatures like this. Sounds like they have it all figured out. Nice little love story between Taiwan and their butterflies.
