Eric-Jon Rössel Waugh looks at ways to improve an unfinished project...
The DS may be rocking all hardware sales charts known to the industry, but even Nintendo's masterful handheld creation can be improved. Next-Gen has thrown forward the following ideas as to how the DS could be further improved - 1) Internal flash memory 2) Better system interface 3) Firmware upgrades 4) Virtual console support 5) Integrated Wi-Fi and Pictochat 6) DS drawing and organizer abilities (homebrew already does) 7) Better GBA slot support.
"2) Improve the system interface. Nobody wants to reboot every time he changes the system clock or exits Pictochat. I don't necessarily even want to shut down the system when I turn off a game. The user should have the option of returning to the home menu at any time – perhaps suspending the game for a moment to fiddle with a system setting, then resuming. The game will react as if the player snapped the lid closed, then open again."
