It's about time the material girl launched her own clothing line. The queen of reinventing herself is ready to share her fashion style with the world.
Whether you are a fan or not, you have to admit Madonna (or her people) are somewhat brilliant. Here's a woman who is one of the few stars to weather the storm of the ever changing music and fashion industry. Since the 1980s, Madonna has reinvented her self over, and over again to the point that some must wonder, where does she come up with it all?
I can remember around seventh grade when all the girls wore socks with pumps, fishnets and big bows in their hair, mimicking the fashion icon of the 80s our parents were forced to tolerate.
I'm not sure if Madonna has quite the same impact she once did on fashion, but it looks like she hopes to. Her new clothing line, appropriately called "M by Madonna" hit shelves worldwide Thursday at Swedish fashion retailer Hennes and Mauritz, with 1300 stores in 24 countries.
But don't expect to see fingerless gloves and cone-shaped bras in this collection. The new line is classy and modern, featuring a leather trench coat, sequined dresses, tan calf-length pants and matching jackets. Retailers are hoping that the fashions will attract more than just loyal Madonna wanna-bes.
"I am a Madonna fan but the reason I am buying the clothes is that they are very nice and feminine and the prices are very reasonable,
" said Magda Grabowik, 32, as she lined up to pay for a coat, jacket and dresses at H&M's Oxford Street store.
The 48-year-old singer is happy to be working on "an exciting and new creative challenge."
"I'm happy with the results and look forward to wearing M by Madonna along with the rest of the world," said Madonna in a statement.
