article imageHealth Care Back In National Spotlight

By timmack     Mar 19, 2007 in Health
Now that over 46 million Americans, have no health insurance of any kind, at last health care, or the lack of it, is destined to become a political issue for the 2008 campaign.
Today, there are over 46 million Americans that have no health coverage at all. And the only way they can get free coverage is if they spend every penny they have. So what you really have today, is a situation that uninsured workers are becoming envious of those that are on the public welfare roles.
And of course, many who are now on welfare have fears of becoming employed and losing their health care benefits that are now free. And the real irony here is that a vast number of the uninsured are hard working individuals that have started small business's, but can't pay the high costs of health care and still compete in the business world.
Illinois is on its way to providing insurance to every child in the state. Massachusetts is implementing a plan to cover virtually all residents. At least a dozen other states are in various stages of planning overhauls.
California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's plan, like several others, includes an "individual mandate," which would require all individuals to have health insurance.
