Over one million battery eggs are purposely being labelled free-range or organic as often as every week in the UK.
Over one million battery eggs are purposely being labelled free-range or organic as often as every week in the UK.
Goverment officials believe that the scam started four months ago and is now 10 times bigger than it was when it first started.
In the past five years 500 million false labelled eggs have been sold at the free-range or organic prices and a lot of people can't seem to tell the difference they just believe what ever the label says.
What makes this a scam is free-range and organic eggs can be sold for twice the amount of battery eggs.
Enforcements are still trying to figure out who started the scam. They believe that a man who is about 50-60 might be able to help them find out who is behind this.
The investigation started last November when the West Midlands egg packing firm was raided and their equipment and paperwork was taken away.
Three people where arrested for suspicion of fraud they will remain on bail.
