An amazing love of butterflies led Connie Hurt to a lifetime of travelling all over the world.
For 30 years, Connie Hurt has been collecting exotic butterflies from all over the world. Her collection is extensive and some of her findings are in famous museums. The rarest of them are worth thousands of dollars for collectors.
She still remembers that day in her sunny backyard when she first really paid attention to a butterfly. Something moved her so strongly that she felt in love with butterflies.
Butteflies are the best looking of all the insects and I can understand her love for them.
"Butterfly collecting dates back centuries, and quite possibly to the dawn of mankind," said Paul Opler, a professor and entomologist from Colorado State University. He estimated that upward of 10,000 collectors are scattered across the United States.
