Update to CBC to air documentary on Autism/Aspergers on April 3, 2007
by cruiseroo.
The incidence of Autism is much higher than most of us know and there are many here at DJ who are interested in any developments
or new knowledge on Autism. People also want to know and should know what it's like to be an autistic child, how it affects them in school, and what are the differences in the various types of autism.
Now,
filmmaker Marianne Kaplan turns the camera on her own family, creating a rare and intimate first-hand portrait of living with Asperger Syndrome (AS)-a form of high-functioning autism characterized by socially and emotionally inappropriate behavior, and an inability to interact successfully with others. The film will follow Marianne's own son as he deals with a year in Grade 7. This is bound to be one deep and emotional story.
This special documentary will air at 10pm on April 3rd and I thought those of you who are interested in this subject might want to mark that date.
UPDATE: This documentary will be aired not only on April 3, but as shown here:
March 28 at 5pm & 10pm ET (2pm, 7pm PT)
CBC Newsworld (The Lens series), Tuesday, April 3 & Saturday, April 7 at 10pmET/PT (both nights).
My daughter and I have been involved with the Canadian National Autism Foundation since 2001 when she pledged a $1 for every one of her CD's sold to the foundation.
In 2006, Victoria released the
AUTISM SONG which she and I wrote back in 2003 expressly for the Foundation.
All proceeds from the sale of the single go directly to the foundation. You can order your copy
here.
