Seven people were killed and 50 injured on Saturday when a passenger plane made a crash landing in Samara, 1,100 kilometers east of Moscow,
"The plane made a crash landing at 9:40 a.m. (0640 GMT) at the Samara airport. The plane's fuselage broke apart during the landing," Irina Adrianova, a spokeswoman for the emergency situations ministry, told state television channel Vesti-24.
The plane was carrying 57 people of which 7 died in the crash with a further 6 classed as in a serious condition, with another 34 suffering minor injuries.
Adrianova said, adding that rescue workers were trying to free "six people who are still inside the airplane."
The YUT-Air operated twin engine Tupolev Tu-134 crashed on landing after its landing gear failed to deploy, this came just 3 day after a Boeing 737 experienced problems with one of its two engines forcing it to make an emergency landing
This follow last years worst ever record for plane accidents in Russia, with 33 accidents and 318 death, a six fold increase over 2005. Although 70 percent where reported to be human error the fact that the Russian Airline industrial is fighting against cheap European based airline must mean that they have been cutting costs somewhere, unfortunately its starting to look like the maintenance budget has been cut just a little to much.
If you have to fly in Russia and its a Russian owned Airline you may want to think about taking the train, bus or just walking.
