article imageChinese Supermarket Provides Sitdown, Stress Free Shopping Experience

By geozone     Mar 16, 2007 in Lifestyle
A service-oriented supermarket in Shenyang City, China, combines convenience and pleasure in shopping experience for its customers.
There are five floors in this supermarket and the aisles are very narrow. But items are arranged in easily reachable bins as you ride through the store. Yes, ride.
Tracks are installed in the supermarket along which glide "coaster" carts, private cars carrying customers. As customers are leisurely whisked through the floors and aisles, they select the items they want as they go.
Customers have raved about this new way to shop, claiming it is less stressful and far more entertaining than pushing a shopping cart through the store.
There seems to be only one drawback so far. If you miss an item along the way, you have to repeat the ride through the whole store.
The designers of this system are hoping their idea will catch on throughout the rest of the world.
It beats getting a shopping cart rammed into your back as I have experienced on a number of occasions. I think this type of shopping experience would be enjoyed by the kids as well.
