The Best Bus Driver In Town, And Only Fifteen

By Michelle Duffy     Mar 16, 2007 in Crime
A teenager steals a bus, collects passengers and even fares in Orlando, and, it wasn't the first time either
Ritchie Calvin Davis took the bus one Saturday in October last year from the Central Florida Fairgrounds where apparently it was awaiting to be auctioned off. He got in it and drove the bus along a proper bus route, obeying signs, speed limits and was even courteous to his passengers.
The 15 year old, Davis said, "I drove that bus better than most of the LYNX drivers could," the teen, told a deputy after he was stopped and arrested. "There isn't a scratch on it. I know how to start it, drive it, lower it, raise it."
Funnily enough, this wasn't the first time he had been caught driving a bus in a similar incident. The only reason why he was caught this time, was because a passenger who though that the driver looking strangely young for his age, called 911 just to check him out.
When the police manged to catch up with the immaculate driver, there were two passengers on board who appeared quite unaware of the fact that the driver had stolen the vehicle. He had driven it about 12 miles away from where he had taken it from.
He was charged with driving without a license and grand theft auto, then it was a question of whether they were going to charge him as a minor or not. The bus was one of the LYNX public transit services that run in the Orlando area.
Although his manner and driving was perfect, he was under age. We wonder if when he does become of driving age, will they offer him a job...
