Agents from Ohio's Humane Society are looking for a woman who has confessed to killing over 600 animals since 2002.
Everyone thought Maureen McLaughlin was an animal rescue angel. She took many unwanted and stray animals from people, pretending to find homes and shelters for them.
Instead, she was drowning them by trapping them in crates, filling large garbage cans with water and then putting the crates into the garbage cans until the animals frantic struggles were over.
Apparently she really got off on this. She even cut off pieces of each puppy, dog and cat's fur to remember them by. She'd write their descriptions and the date she killed each one.
Authorities went to her apartment to arrest her on Wednesday, but she has
disappeared. They are hoping she turns herself in or that someone else will know where she is and turn her in before she kills more animals.
