Children Shot in playground

by archangelG.
17 children were shot today in a rural primary school in Staffordshire. Has gun crime now reached our schools?
After reading this on the news i was shocked. 17 children, in a rural primary school in Staffordshire suffered minor injuries, from a firearm.

Granted the firearm in question, was a BB gun. But has the image of gun crime finally reached our schools? What drives these youngsters to even want to possess a firearm, much less use one?

"A 12-year-old boy was later arrested on suspicion of assault. Three boys from a different school were thought to have fired on the pupils from nearby bushes"

Do you think an assault charge is a high enough penalty for a crime such as this?

This can only point out the dangers of supplying BB and airsoft weapons to children. Restrictions are already in place to stop young people of this age obtaining such items. The question remains, how did the youngster in question obtain such items in the first place?

Has our society degraded so much that we would allow a child to have such dangerous items in their possession, especially in a public place?
