University applicants are getting caught for plagiarism before they have even been accepted into the university!
Candidates for British Universities have been caught "borrowing" phrases such as "burning a hole in pyjamas at age 8" for their online entrance applications.
370 medical applicants wrote "a fascination for how the human body works" and others included anecdotes that involved "an elderly or inform grandfather".
Most of this material came from one free website studential.com , reports a study done by UCAS, the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service. They found that 5% of 50 000 personal statements contained "borrowed material".
