Watchismo follows up its feature on an all wooden watch from 1900 with an artice on the Bronnikov family, the watchmaking dynasty that carved watches from wood and bone:
If you thought the all wood watch was impressive, here is bone. A horological dynasty is responsible for these watches, the Bronnikov family from Vjatka, Russia. I am so fascinated by this craft. To get that kind of detail in wood was amazing. I had no idea they did it with bone as well. It just boggles the mind. I have the utmost respect for these craftsman. You have to understand that EVERY tiny piece has to be fashioned from nothing. They say this is worth at least $25,000. I love history and this piece should be in a museum..Or in my home.
