Morgellons Disease is a serious illness commonly mistaken as Delusional Parasitosis. Morgellons is not being taken seriously, and could already be in a new stage of development even more dangerous than the last.
Delusional Parasitosis is a diagnosis reserved for individuals who have the imagined feeling of bugs crawling under their skin. But what if the feeling was not imagined? What if it is true? Hundreds of people in the United States and around the world have fallen victim to a real and serious Illness, Morgellons Disease.
Morgellons' symptoms are as follows:
"...crawling, stinging and biting sensations, non-healing skin lesions which are associated with highly unusual structures. These structures can be described as fiber-like or filamentous, and they are the most striking and least understood aspect of this disease. In addition, many sufferers also report symptoms of disabling fatigue, severe mental confusion, short term memory loss, joint pain, sharp decline in vision, and serious neurological disorders."
This disease at its current stage is disturbing enough, but there is a new development. On February 13th, WSVN-TV 7News reported a story that could make the skin crawl, literally. They recorded on film people with skin lesions that were homes to parasites. Click here
Could this be another stage of Morgellons? Could it be something completely new? Unfortunately the Morgellons Research Foundation does not have the funding to look into this new development, let alone find a cure for Morgellons Disease as it stands now.
