Why is Jerry Falwell honoring Newt Gingrich for admitting he committed adultery?

Newt Gingrich is being praised by none other than Jerry Falwell concerning his admission that he was cheating on his wife at the exact same time he was calling for President Bill Clinton's impeachment after the Monica Lewinsky scandal. Falwell is so impressed he has invited Newt to deliver the commencement speech at Falwell's Liberty University. "He has admitted his moral shortcomings to me, as well, in private conversations," Falwell wrote in a weekly newsletter sent Friday to members of the Moral Majority Coalition and The Liberty Alliance. "And he has also told me that he has, in recent years, come to grips with his personal failures and sought God's forgiveness." Falwell claims he can tell when someone is honestly seeking forgiveness for a "moral collapse" and that Newt's recent admissions are the real deal... Interesting.. he admits that he was cheating on his wife and gets praise from Falwell. Nice.
