A commercial airliner carrying 133 on board has burst into flames upon landing at Yogyakarta airport in central Java.
Reports say that the boeing 737 appeared to "overshoot the runway" before flames shot out.
"Reports differed on the number of people onboard. Media reports said 133 passengers and seven crew members were onboard, while Andy Mallarangeng, a spokesman for the Indonesian government, told CNN 115 passengers were onboard"
There is no word on any deaths but this is still to be determined
"We are still waiting for the latest information" about any passengers who may have been trapped, he said. It was too early to speculate on what caused the plane to erupt in flames, he added".
Video footage taken by a local shows rescue workers surrounding the planes smoking fuselage, with the top of the plane burned away/
One survivor told reporters that "the landing was bumpy, upon reaching the ground , she saw fire out of her window, then smoke coming into to the plane..."
Just an update on this accident. As of Wednesday March 7, it has been reported that 27 people have been killed, most of them were trapped by the flames and 117 people escaped
