The magazine announced Tuesday that singer and activist Bono will be the publication's first-ever guest editor for the July issue focusing on Africa.
The move is part of his Project RED campaign, which encourages corporate leaders to donate certain product proceeds to humanitarian projects in Africa.
"We've talked about doing a special issue on Africa for awhile now, and of course Bono came to mind during those discussions," said Vanity Fair Editor Graydon Carter in a statement.
"He's very knowledgeable and passionate on the subject, and he'll be an authentic guest editor."
It's not the first time Bono has edited for a major publication. He also featured stories about poverty, global warming and HIV/AIDS in Africa in the May 2006 issue of The Independent newspaper in London.
