News was SUPPOSED to be announced tomorrow, but was made public by an "anonymous" source today.
An agreement has been made between shortstop Michael Young and the Texas Rangers that will pay Young $80 Million over the next 5 years. Although Young did not want the details of the agreement made public a person familiar with the negotiations spoke on a condition of anonymity and released the information.
The Rangers were expected to announced the deal tomorrow, Friday but the news is now out in the public... too late.
"We accomplished a great deal over the past four days," Young said after spring training workouts Thursday in Surprise, Ariz. "This puts me here through the 2013 season and represents a great leap of faith on their part."
This is the second-largest contract in the team's history, the largest being the $252 million, 10-year deal with Rodriguez in 2000.
