While her team was playing a game in Quebec, she was asked to leave the field because of what she was wearing.
Ashahan Mansour, 11, was asked to leave the field Saturday when she went to play soccor with her team. It was a girls 12 and under game and reason she was asked to leave was because she was wearing a hijab.
The hijab is a traditional form of Muslim dress and covers the entire body.
Her team forfeited all their games in protest when the ref said her outfit was too long and would present a physical hazard to other players. Her team and 4 other teams all disagreed and all forfeited their games.
She said her hijab is like a shirt that tucks in and does not get in the way of her playing. Her team agrees.
She was allowed to play Saturday in two games. It was just Sunday this ref decided she could not play. It is up to the offical of that game as to what is allowed during the game.
They feel she was discriminated against.
I feel if she was allowed to play in Saturday's games then she should have been allowed to play in Sundays. There should not be different rules. Should be all the same rules for all the games.
