Breastfeeding Moms Stage 'Nurse In' At Berks Mall

By RobotGod     Feb 25, 2007 in World
Advocates of breastfeeding are angry over the treatment one mother received while trying to breastfeed her son at the Berkshire Mall.
150 mothers, children, and even husbands came to stage a nurse in the Berkshire Mall, all outraged at the treatment Leigh Bellini received while nursing her seven month old son.
Leigh said that they were told to go out to the car or go to the bathroom, or the cops would be called. One father makes a good point. You are allowed to eat in the mall, why shouldn't babies be allowed as well.
And another good point. It's not about breastfeeding. It is about the child's need to eat. 36 states have laws protecting a mother's right to breastfeed in public. Pennsylvania is not one of them and Leigh hopes to change that in the near future.
She has alot of support. These Nurse In's I am sure will only become more prevailant if they do not get the proper respect.
