Colorado Grandmother found not guilty in the murder of her granddaughter by reason of insanity.
A 53-year-old woman who claimed she received spiritual messages from geese before allegedly stabbing her toddler granddaughter to death was found not guilty by reason of insanity Friday.
Carol Lynn Pappas was baby sitting her granddaughter Madison Pappas, 21 month child. The baby was crying uncontrollably, the grandmother snapped and killed Madison with an 8 inch knife. Madison was found with numerous stab wounds.
Pappas had told her son several times before that she has been receiving spiritual advice from the gees that flies over his house where she lives. Court Papers also show she was admitted to hospitals and given psychiatric are at east 6 times in 2005, the last time being 6 weeks before the slaying.
After the trial, the judge ordered Carol Lynn Pappas committed to the state mental health hospital, where officials will give her the treatment and decided "when and if she will ever be released,"
She could have faced life in prison if convicted.
She had numerous psychiatric problems, why the Son allowed his baby under her care is baffling.
