George Washington was born either on February 11, 1731 (Julian calendar), or on February 22, 1732 (the Gregorian calendar). Under no circumstances, therefore, can Washington’s birthday fall on Washington’s Birthday.
I am always amused by this practice of maximizing your weekends by planning a national holiday on a third Monday or third Thursday (Thanksgiving) instead of the actual day. I admit it is greatly convenient for us working people to have a long weekend but then we forget the real reason behind the holiday coz we aren't celebrating those people or occasions on the days they should be celebrated.
