Former Mississauga bridal store employee charged in credit card fraud

By soome2000     Feb 22, 2007 in Crime
Customers of Sherwood Bridal Co. in Mississauga and Ajax, also known as Bridal Wardrobe Inc., are being asked to check their credit card statements.
A six-month investigation has revealed that a former employee, Yanique Miller, 19, unlawfully obtained credit card information and used it to make purchases adding up to an estimated $60 thousand. A few customers have come forward after finding charges on their credit card accounts.
The young woman was charged with both fraud and theft over $5 thousand.
I know that retail employees aren't paid that much, but this was a pretty bold crime, it probably happens every day in smaller amounts. I am guilty of not checking my statements in detail, but I'll be changing that bad habit after hearing about this.
Crafty, I wonder what she was thinking, that nobody would notice?
