By Critical_Conformity     Feb 19, 2007 in Crime
A Tennessee cabbie may be out of a job and be heading to jail after he allegedly ran over 2 college students near a University after an argument over religion.
Nashville Police say, Ibrahim Ahmed, 37, a driver for United Cab, picked up two men near a University campus early. The two men were college students from Ohio visiting Nashville and were on their way back to campus.
There was a religious conversation that happened during the fare between the driver and the two students. When the cab stopped and the students paid their fair and was leaving, the cab driver allegedly struck one of the men who then proceeded to run away.
According to the incident report, the cab driver then drove across the parking lot and ran over the curb and struck the two men. One student avoided the cab while the other was hit and was taken to hospital.
The cab driver was arrested and is currently in police custody. A Police Spokesperson says "He was charged with assault and attempted homicide and is being held on $300,000 bond." " Ahmed was also charged with theft because police said the license plate on his cab was listed as stolen"
"We are working with the police to see what happened," United Cab Manager Cherrie Machado told FOX News.
