A Jordanian who killed his divorced sister over rumors that she had a lover was cleared of premeditated murder because he acted in a "fit of rage," after his family dropped charges, the Jordan Times reported Thursday.
A disturbing story from Jordan. Honor killing is an issue that we often hear about, but just don't know how pervasive it is.
This story is a reminder that these barbaric killings continue to be an issue and therefore needs to be addressed more closely.
Can someone tell me once again why we're over there fighting and dying to introduce democracy? Do you think it will ever be embraced, or is this big business at work, i.e. Haliburton, Exxon, etc?

We should never become immune to news like this because it is such a dispicable act of bigotry to allow these men to continue murdering their wives, daughters, sisters, aunts, neices, friends, lovers with totally immunity. "Get Out of Jail Free" card issued everywhere as long as you are Muslim. Disgusting.

I am surprised the King of Jordan doesn't do nothing about all this, they tried to bring the law to give more punishment but they were refused again and again in their parliament.
Don't forget these are isolated incidences which are relatively low in number but get enormous, exaggerated news attention. There may be no honor killings in the western world but there are many, many more killings in general.
