Sony belts out another one.
Sony dropped us an email and it's going to be music to the ears of aspiring crooners. For those who found the gritty edge of songs like "Love Shack" and "Rocket Man" from SingStar Rocks too in your face, SingStar Pop is here sporting an impressive roster of inoffensive radio-friendly pap. We applaud Sony for finally combating the public humiliation of American Idol auditions by giving the people the opportunity to vocally embarrass themselves in the privacy of their own homes.
SingStar Pop comes packed with two microphones which you can deftly employ in the team-based Pass the Mic mode or in Duets. And we should also mention that the game is one of the few remaining reasons to kick the dust off of the old EyeToy USB camera. The game streets on April 3rd, and until then check out the track list below to fill your heart with song. To date, not a single member of the GamesRadar staff has made it through a rendition of "Sk8er Boi" without sobbing like an orphan on Christmas, but hey, we love a challenge.
Believe it or not, but the Singstar rocks game is fun if your doing the battle mode with someone elese. It really isn't fair, but Sony had the right idea. Some of you might wonder why it is not fair. I'll tell you why. Suppose you were a girl, and you have a voice that can naturally be soft. Now suppose the person you were facing is a guy with a naturally not so soft deeper voice than you. So the person with the soft voice will win the majority of soft songs, while the person with the deeper voice will excell in the hard rock songs. So it really can't be fair sometimes. Plus, you don't need to actually sing, you can sing nonsense and still get points. But at least Sony is trying new stuff.
