Aston Villa To Tour USA In Summer

By Sheriff Kimbo     Feb 13, 2007 in Sports
Aston Villa director General Krulak today confirmed that the club will tour the US as part of their pre-season preperation.
Many predicted this would happen when Randy Lerner & co took over. It will be, I am sure, a decent enough change from the usual trip to Scandanavia.
No offence to the Scandanavians, of course!
While this will be of interest to Villa fans, I am also hopeful it will be useful to people in the US with an interest in 'soccer'. Perhaps those that do not have a team could align themselves with Villa, for example. The aim is certainly to raise our profile Staeside, of that I am sure.
General Krulak today declared the news on VillaTalk, by posting:
"Yes, we will be going on a pre-season tour in the US. Details, dates, locations, etc. are currently being worked out. Whe the dates and locations are nailed down, we will immediately make them available to our fans."
in his thread on the messagebaord.
With Randy being owner of the Cleveland Browns, I would assume that something will happen in that part of America. It would be very nice to set up a game againt LA Galaxy, where David Beckham will be plying his trade next year.
Of course another nice idea is that we could get involved with one of those 4-team tournaments that they have over there with anouther major European side or two, and a team from the US or two.
The only problem with it that I can see is if we end up getting involved in the InterToto Cup, but in all honesty I do not see that happening.
Whatever happens, I will keep you informed as soon as I hear anything!
